Getting Started with MoltBot on Emergent

This guide covers the complete beginner guide for 1-Click Install MoltBot (now OpenClaw) on Emergent and extending it to Telegram and WhatsApp.

By the end, MoltBot will be running autonomously and accessible outside the Emergent interface.

What You’ll Learn

  • Launch MoltBot with zero manual setup
  • Understand how Emergent provisions the agent
  • Connect MoltBot to Telegram and WhatsApp
  • Publish the agent for 24×7 operation
  • Run scheduled tasks and background automation

Prerequisites

  • Modern web browser (Chrome recommended)
  • Google account
  • Telegram account (optional)
  • WhatsApp account (optional)
  • No API keys required to start

Step 1: Open Emergent

Go to:

https://emergent.sh

This is the main entry point for launching agent chips.

Step 2: Select the MoltBot Chip

  • Locate MoltBot on the home screen
  • Select the chip to proceed

This chip is a preconfigured autonomous agent template.

Step 3: Start Setup

  • Press Enter or trigger the primary action

No configuration screens or forms appear.\

Step 4: Automatic Background Provisioning

Emergent provisions everything automatically:

  • Cloud VM agent runtime
  • MoltBot tools and dependencies
  • Default LLM configuration
  • Secure, isolated execution environment

Setup usually completes in 2–8 minutes.

No user input is required.

Step 5: LLM Key Handling (Default)

  • Emergent provides built-in LLM keys
  • No OpenAI or Anthropic credentials are required
  • You can start immediately

Adding your own API key is optional.

Optional: Use Your Own Anthropic API Key

When This Makes Sense

  • You have an Anthropic Max plan
  • You want control over billing or limits
  • You’re testing specific Claude models

For most users, skip this.

Generate an Anthropic API Key (Local Only)

Prerequisites

  • Active Anthropic Max account
  • Claude CLI installed
  • Logged into Anthropic via terminal

Steps

  1. Open your local terminal
  2. Run:
claude setup-token
  1. Copy the generated API key
  2. Store it securely (do not share or commit it)

Add the Key to MoltBot

  • Return to MoltBot on Emergent
  • Select Anthropic as provider
  • Paste your API key
  • Save configuration

MoltBot will now use your personal key.

Step 6: Setup Confirmation

When provisioning finishes, you’ll see:

“Open Claw started successfully”

This confirms MoltBot is live.

Step 7: Sign In

  • Click Continue with Google
  • Sign in with any email

This creates or links your Emergent account.

Step 8: Default Agent State

At this point:

⚠️ If the agent is not published, it stops when the session ends.

Step 9: Connect MoltBot to Telegram

Create a Telegram Bot

  1. Open Telegram
  2. Search @BotFather
  3. Run /newbot
  4. Choose name and username
  5. Copy the API token

Connect Telegram to MoltBot

  • Paste the Telegram token into MoltBot
  • Find your bot on Telegram
  • Send a message (e.g. hi)
  • Receive pairing code
  • Enter code in Emergent

Connection is now complete.

Test

Send:

Send me five random life philosophies

MoltBot should reply in Telegram.

Step 10: Connect MoltBot to WhatsApp

Start Connection

  • In Emergent, ask:
Help me connect my WhatsApp
  • Open Channels / Integrations
  • Select WhatsApp
  • Click Show QR

Complete Connection

  • Open WhatsApp on your phone
  • Scan the QR code
  • Enter phone number if prompted

You’ll receive a confirmation message.

  • Context is shared across platforms
  • You can instruct platform-specific actions

Example:

Send a summary of today’s AI news to my WhatsApp

Note:

If connections fail, go to the Channels tab in the Control UI and complete setup there.
